Hey ya'll! I thought ya might enjoy reading part of a book I'm writing. After I have a few comments, I will keep posting other parts! Here's the start:
Chapter 1
�Ready, Set, Go!� yelled Aubrey Carver as she and her friends rolled down the hill. Aubrey�s light brown hair flew behind her as she rolled. Finally, Aubrey and all of her friends landed at the bottom of the hill. It was a beautiful spring day. The sun was shining the flowers were blooming and there wasn�t a cloud in the sky. The perfect day to be hanging out with your best friends.
Aubrey had a great group of friends. Every one of her friends loved her. Then Aubrey�s friend Summer came up from behind her and started to throw grass onto her head. Aubrey looked up and began to laugh. �I�ll get you for that,� she yelled at Summer as she ran after her.
Leslie, Steve, Rick, and Matt followed close behind. These six friends were the best of friends. They had been best friends since first grade. They were always seen together. Everyone in school knew them. Everyone knew that Aubrey was Steve�s girlfriend, Leslie was Rick�s girlfriend, and Summer was Matt�s girlfriend.
Aubrey couldn�t help but smile when she looked at her friends. All the memories they have made come flowing back to her every time they were together. �Does anyone want to go with me to pick some flowers?� Leslie said breaking Aubrey from her thoughts. �Sure, I�ll go with you Leslie,� Summer said. �Nah, I�ll stay here with the guys. I�ll make them behave,� Aubrey said with a laugh.
�Ha ha, very funny,� said Steve. �Well only God knows what you do when we aren�t around to make sure you�re under control,� said Aubrey teasing. �Oh, leave us alone,� said Matt. �Well we�re off to go pick flowers,� Leslie said. �We�ll be back in a couple of minutes,� said Summer.
Summer and Leslie ran down the other side of the hill to the flower field. Aubrey watched as they disappeared. �Hey, I laid my Frisbee over there by that tree. Would any of you guys want to toss it around until the girls get back?� Matt said pointing to the tree where his Frisbee was. �Sure,� Rick said. �Yeah, might as well until they get back,� Steve chimed in. �How about you Aubrey? You want to play too?� Matt said. �Yeah, I�d love to,� she said. Matt ran over to the tree and grabbed his Frisbee. He tossed it to Rick. Then Rick threw it to Aubrey. Aubrey had to jump up to catch it but she did.
After a few minutes of tossing around the orange Frisbee, they all heard a gunshot and a scream. A scream that sounded exactly like Leslie�s scream. Aubrey looked up at Steve and yelled �I think they�re in trouble. We should go help them� Rick was the first to start running and Aubrey, Matt, and Steve followed right behind.
When they got to the flower field, all they could see was Leslie bent over on her hands and knees, holding Summer in her arms. Leslie looked up at Aubrey, Matt, Rick, and Steve and said �Someone shot her!� They could see that Summer had been shot in the heart and was bleeding profusely. Matt took off his shirt and threw it to Leslie. �Apply lots of pressure to the wound,� he yelled with tears in his eyes. He continued �We have to save her! She can�t die. I love her. Someone get the cell phone and call 9-11!�
Rick flew back to the car to get his cell phone and dialed 9-11. Matt knelt beside Summer and cradled her in his arms. It didn�t matter to him if she was bleeding or not. He just wanted to hold her. Aubrey tried to help. �Where did the gun shot come from?� she asked Leslie. �It was a drive by. He was in a car. I have no idea where he is now.� Aubrey could barely understand her through her sobs. �What type of car was he in?� Aubrey asked. �I have no idea,� Leslie replied. �I was turned with my back to Summer and I heard a gunshot and turned around and she was lying down and I just saw blood� Leslie said.
Rick came back from his car. �A squad is on its way now. They should be here anytime,� Rick said. �Well they better get here soon! My girlfriend is dying. I�I�I can�t take this,� Matt said as he sobbed. Steve walked over to Matt and put his hand on his shoulder. �It�s ok Matt. Everything will be ok,� Steve reassured him. Then the squad pulled up.
Matt, Steve, Rick, Leslie, and Aubrey all waited at the edged of the field to see what the medics had to say about Summer. After what seemed like forever, a medic finally came up and told Summer�s friends the news. �I wish I wasn�t the one who had to tell you this,� the medic said �but your friend is dead.�
Chapter 2
That horrible day was two weeks ago. Aubrey still had nightmares about that day. All the crying, blood, screaming, and horror of that day. It was awful. Aubrey�s friend had died. She had to look and her dead friend�s body. It was unbearable. Matt seemed to be taking it the worst.
Aubrey�s dad was a detective and he had told Aubrey and all of her friends that he was going to find Summer�s murderer and he would get what he deserves. Although Aubrey had little hope. Her father had had two full weeks to try and find Summer�s murderer and he still had absolutely nothing to lead him to the murderer.
Aubrey loved her father. She wanted to be a detective just like him. She loved to listen to her dad tell about the cases that he had solved. He even said that Aubrey could help him with finding out her Summer�s murderer was. He told her if she heard anything about it at school or had any information at all to give it to him and she could help him piece it all together to help find the murderer.
Ring Ring! Aubrey�s thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of the telephone. Aubrey reached to pick it up. Steve was on the other line. �Hey Aubrey,� he said cheerfully. �Do you want to go out dancing tonight?� he asked. She was glad to talk to him. Her and Steve had been together for a long time now. �I�d love to go dancing with you tonight Steve,� she replied. �Great! I�ll pick you up around 8 then right?� he asked. �Perfect,� she responded.
Then she hung up the phone and picked out her best outfit to go dancing in. Maybe it would help her get her mind off of Summer she thought. The last two weeks all that she had been thinking about was the death of Summer, her best friend. She didn�t want to remember so she quickly put that thought out of her head.
A few hours later she was dancing with Steve at the dance club that they always went to. �This is great!� Aubrey said yelling above the music just to make sure that Steve could hear her. �Yeah, this is really fun! I love coming here,� Steve responded. �Yeah me too!� said Aubrey. �Hey look,� Aubrey said as she pointed to the table her and Steve were sitting at �Our pizza is ready.� Aubrey and Steve walked over to their table and sat down.
Aubrey and Steve were laughing and joking as they continued to eat their pizza. Then they were interrupted by the ringing of Aubrey�s cell phone. She picked up the cell phone and answered it. �Hello,� she said. A deep, computerized voice replied �You better watch your back. Your next!�
