John Reiser, 67, loses battle with cancer
Posted on Sat, Nov. 19, 2005
HOMESTEAD, Fla. - John Reiser, the father of NASCAR Nextel Cup crew chief Robbie Reiser, died Saturday morning following a battle with cancer for several months. He was 67.
Through May of this year John Reiser, of Denver, N.C., served as
general manager of the Roush Racing Busch and Craftsman Truck series race shops.
"John was a special and talented racer, he taught and touched all
members of the Roush Racing organization," team owner Jack Roush said.
Reiser raced in Wisconsin from 1958 to 1976 at several dirt tracks
and won the Wisconsin Late Model dirt track championship in 1972. Reiser later co-owned a team with his son, Robbie and teamed with driver Matt Kenseth.
Robbie Reiser currently serves at Kenseth's crew chief. The duo won the Cup championship in 2003. Robbie Reiser has tentative plans to remain in Homestead for Sunday's Cup season finale.
Funeral plans are incomplete. A memorial service is scheduled for
Tuesday at Holy Spirit Church in Denver, N.C.
Survivors are his wife, Alice; son, Robbie; daughters, Rochelle
Priesgen, Roxanne Konrath, Rhonda McCready, Reness Lesson; and 11 grandchildren. _________________
