Hey ya'll! Ok, I really need some help with this one. I know this may be a little early to be thinkng about college since i'm only 12, but in my mind you can never start to early. Any way, I did some looking around at law schools (I wanna be a prosecutor for those who don't know) and they are VERY expensive. With my mother and farther having four kids they need all the money they can get, so I won't have very much family help. Our family isn't poor, but we ain't rich either. As i call it, we're in the middle of the field. Today I was riding my bike and happened to run into an adult friend of mine and my most recent teacher. I told them I was "shopping" for colleges. They told me that I could look and apply for college grants and scholarships now online. They said you could look them up and if you qualify, you can always apply. I did some looking arouind for this, and I did find sites, but none that I could apply for a grant or scholarship on. My adult friend (Shannon) said many people do not know about these sites because schools sometimes don't even hear about them. So if many of you haven't heard about it, that's ok. I was just wondering if anyone has or if they could find out any more information about it for me. Like I said, I did some looking, but found none I could apply for. I was wondering if maybe some of you could do a search and maybe find some things that passed me. Thanks so much! this is such a help! I'll definitly be thanking you all down the road! Love ya'll!

Caitlin

High school guidance counselors can really help out with that kind of stuff!! They have all kinds of info
on grants, scholarships, financial aid etc,,,!! When you reach high school or when you plan classes for your freshman year ,let them know what type of college education you are interested in and they can get you started A.S.A.P !! You can even ask your teachers and counselors when you get back to school for all the info they can give !! Hope this helps a little!! I have been out of school for a little while now and this is how I went about getting info, besides on-line research!!

I use FAFSA to get my grant money. They are very good. And for me it usually pays for my semester, including my books.

Your just like me I started looking at colleges at your age and now I'm 15 and I'm going to check out colleges this summer, I'm going to check out UCSD in a week with my mom! Sometimes highschools have a college and career center that will help you and sometimes they have colleges come in and talk to students, my school has somethin like that but I don't know if your will.

LOL ur thinking WAY ahead.. you need to go to undergrad before and then take the LSATs and whatnot and THEN apply to law school.. rarely do people go straight to law school from high school

VERY smart, Caitlin! Right now, paying for college is a big issue for me so I've been looking up some resources you may want to check out. I highly suggest, above all, saving your money! Having spending money is fun, but I guarantee you'll be wishing you had saved birthday money, babysitting money, etc. by the time you turn 18. Now I'm working, applying for financial aid, and thinking about student loans. Eeeek! Here are some websites you might be interested in. I haven't checked them all out, so I don't know if they'll all have what you're looking for, but nevertheless...

http://www.edfund.org
http://www.finaid.org
http://www.faam.org
http://www.ed.gov
http://www.fastweb.com
http://www.nelliemae.com
http://www.salliemae.com

If you go to the book store, like Barnes & Noble or Books-a-Million, they have sections just for college students. There are thick books with tons of scholarships inside. There are also "how to" type books that give tips on how to pay for college.

Don't let anyone tell you that you're thinking about this too early. I wish I had begun thinking about college when I was your age. Again, I really strongly suggest saving your money. If you haven't already, ask your parents to open up a savings account at your bank so you can keep everything organized.

I hope the websites I gave help you out!
